The Mississippi sports wagering industry saw a significant surge in May. The state collected $3.9 million in revenue from sports betting, representing a substantial increase compared to the previous year. In 2020, casinos and sports betting venues were shuttered for a significant portion of May due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, however, they remained open throughout the month, resulting in a substantial rise in earnings. Despite the impressive growth, the revenue generated in May fell slightly short of the previous month’s figures.
