The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has issued a directive to block access to numerous offshore gambling and affiliate websites operating illicitly within the nation.

The ACMA declared that Golden Lady Casino, Casino4u, Spin Samurai, Axe Casino, Lucky Dreams, Comet Room, Paradiso Room, No Deposit Friend, No Deposit Bonus Blog, Casino-On-Line, Online Casino Australian, Casino Shortlist, Australia Casino, and Aus Casinos were all determined to be in contravention of the Interactive Gambling Act of 2001. Consequently, the ACMA has requested Australian internet service providers to restrict access to all these websites.

The ACMA commenced making blocking requests in November 2019, and since that time, it has effectively blocked 375 websites alleged to be operating unlawfully in Australia.

Since the ACMA began enforcing new regulations against unlawful offshore gambling in 2017, over 150 illicit services have withdrawn from Australia.

“Website blocking presents a valuable opportunity to enhance public awareness of illegal gambling services through the cautionary messages that appear when individuals attempt to access the websites,” the ACMA stated.

“The ACMA reminds consumers that even if a service appears authentic, it is improbable that it will have essential customer protection measures in place.”

It is crucial for Australians utilizing illicit gambling platforms to be aware of the potential financial losses they may incur.

Within the preceding month, the ACMA issued its inaugural blocking directives against overseas lottery websites following its determination that We Love Lotto and Red Fox Lotto were both conducting operations unlawfully in Australia.

Concurrently, within the past month, the ACMA issued a formal admonition to Tabcorp subsequent to the operator’s acceptance of online wagers on US collegiate basketball matches.

The ACMA initiated an investigation into Tabcorp after receiving grievances and ascertained that the operator had accepted 37 wagers on the games on January 3rd of the current year.

In accordance with the Interactive Gambling Act of 2001, it is prohibited in Australia to place online bets on sporting events during the event, hence the ACMA concluded that Tabcorp had transgressed the law.
