The Swiss Gaming Association (SGA) has selected Dr. Gerhard Pfister and Laurent Wehrli as its new head and deputy head, respectively.

Pfister succeeds Dr. Béatrice von Ranson, who served as the head for four years. The SGA expressed gratitude to von Ranson for his “exceptional contribution to the Swiss gambling sector,” which included overseeing the implementation of the new gaming law that went into effect in 2019. The law permitted casino operators in Switzerland to provide online gambling for the first time.

The vote occurred at the Casino Lugano, where eight other board members were also chosen. Casino leaders Guido Egli (Grand Casino Luzern), Emanuele Stauffer (Casino Lugano), Dr. Christoph Tuorherr (Grand Casino Baden), and Uli Winzenried (Bern and Neuchâtel Casinos) all joined the board.

Other board members include Jérôme Colin, general manager of the Casino Barrière Montreux, Michele Marinari, director of the Casino Mendrisio, Dominik Lacić of the Casino Bad Ragaz, and Dr. Gert Thöni, deputy head of the Grand Casino Basel.
