Allwyn Entertainment is poised to acquire Camelot Lottery Solutions Group, the present administrator of the Illinois Lottery. This purchase will result in Allwyn, an international lottery conglomerate, succeeding the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board, the former proprietors of Camelot LS Group.

Camelot LS Group, headquartered in Chicago, is renowned for its subsidiary, Camelot Illinois, which oversees the daily functions of the Illinois Lottery. In addition to Illinois, the firm collaborates with the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery to enhance their activities. They also possess a specialized technology department that furnishes services and goods to lotteries and their participants throughout North America and Europe.

Significantly, Allwyn has stressed that this ownership transition will not affect the management at Camelot LS Group. Wayne Pickup, Chief Executive Officer of Camelot LS Group, conveyed his enthusiasm regarding the acquisition, affirming that their priority remains on attending to their clientele, engaging players, and ultimately generating lottery proceeds that benefit the communities they cater to. He is confident that the unified assets and proficiency of Allwyn and Camelot LS Group will yield even greater achievements for Illinois and their other patrons.

Through this purchase, Camelot LS Group will transition into a fully owned subsidiary under Allwyn. The transaction, anticipated to finalize in early 2023, hinges on customary closing prerequisites.

“The North American region has consistently been a primary strategic objective for Allwyn’s future expansion, and the incorporation of Camelot LS Group represents the appropriate move towards realizing this ambition,” stated Robert Chvátal, Chief Executive Officer of Allwyn.

“Allwyn is dedicated to enhancing the lottery experience for participants and aiding lottery organizations in raising additional funds for beneficial initiatives through progress, technology, effectiveness, and protection. Both Allwyn and Camelot possess a strong enthusiasm for the lottery sector and are devoted to generating value for our clientele and producing increased returns for the worthy endeavors we endorse.”

This acquisition follows Allwyn’s successful bid to become the administrator of the UK National Lottery in March 2022, succeeding Camelot, which had held the position for 28 years.
