The legendary Churchill Downs has partnered with the iconic Sports Illustrated to unveil a luxurious dining destination dubbed “Club SI.”

Previously known as the 1895 Club, the space will undergo a complete transformation and is slated to premiere on the evening of the Kentucky Derby, May 4, 2024. This collaboration is a key element of Churchill Downs’ extensive $200 million renovation initiative in anticipation of the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby.

Club SI will boast an equestrian-inspired aesthetic and provide exceptional views of the recently modernized paddock and its runway. The eatery will be adorned with memorable Sports Illustrated covers and editorial photography capturing past Kentucky Derbies, further enhancing the immersive atmosphere.

Mike Anderson, President of Churchill Downs Racetrack, conveyed his enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing that it will offer patrons an unmatched Kentucky Derby experience. He underscored Sports Illustrated’s parallel dedication to blending exhilarating athletic spectacles with high-end entertainment, positioning Club SI as the ideal setting for this joint venture.

Authentic Brands Group executive, Michael Sherman, shared his enthusiasm for introducing the Club SI experience at the historic Churchill Downs. He noted that Sports Illustrated, with its renowned photography and journalism, has documented the Kentucky Derby’s excitement and heritage for generations.

Sherman stressed that Club SI will honor the magazine’s past while providing attendees with a lavish and remarkable Derby event. This encompasses premium food and beverages, optimal viewing spots within the redesigned paddock, and exclusive entry to celebrations marking the Kentucky Derby’s 150th anniversary.

Further enhancing the Derby festivities, Churchill Downs Incorporated also introduced Derby City Gaming Downtown, a novel entertainment venue with a distinct Kentucky horse racing motif, accessible to all.
