Marylands gaming establishments generated a substantial $143.8 million in September 2018, reflecting a 6.9% increase compared to the corresponding month in the preceding year. This remarkable revenue figure constitutes the fourth-largest monthly earnings for the state’s gaming sector.
MGM National Harbor, the state’s most profitable casino, maintained its dominance, amassing a staggering $54.4 million, a 10.3% rise from the prior year. Ocean City Casino witnessed the most significant expansion, with earnings soaring by 13.9% to hit $7.5 million.
Nevertheless, not every casino shared in the prosperity. Rocky Gap Casino Resort and Baltimore’s Horseshoe Casino experienced minor declines in revenue, by 1.3% and 1.6% respectively.
Out of the overall revenue procured, a considerable sum, $59.5 million, flowed directly into state funds, with the majority, $44.6 million, allocated to the Education Trust Fund. The remaining funds aid the localities where the casinos are situated and reinforce Marylands horse racing sector.
Marylands six privately held casinos provide a wide array of gaming choices, encompassing slot machines and table games, drawing in both locals and visitors.
